Used flattened ring airfoil gives the
possibility of having the aircraft
with very great compactness and integrity of the
design. Encasing the
airscrews improve their efficiency and safety of the
earth maintenance staff. Proper location of airscrew in comparison with
the lifting surface and
proper direction of rotation – providing
with adequate angular jet momentum
behind the airscrew – what arranging the flow around the airfoil causing the decrease of the aerodynamic drags. The presented arrangement of the aircraft can be used widely in practise. On the basis of this concept, it is possible to design both transport aircraft with short take-off and vertical take-off one with great manoeuvrability replacing attack helicopter but with better cruising speed. |
In the presented example, vertical take-off
aircraft is shown with the following parameters: Weight - 5800kg Wingspan - 6.69m Length - 9.15m Height - 3.10m (without undercarriage) Vmax - 400km/h V - 360km/h Engine power 2x900HP (2x662kW) The estimation calculations have been made for this example on the basis of the literature data and results of the studies carried out in the windtunnel of Engineering College of Warsaw. |
